The McIans play modern and traditional Celtic music in the vein of Flogging Molly, the Pogues, Dropkick Murphy’s, and other Celtic punk and rock favorites.
Formed in the early 2000s by members of local cover band Six Pack Theory, the McIans have performed all around Ohio. The McIans were formed and are fronted by Brian Kerr McIan, who emigrated 16 years ago to Ohio from his native Paisley (Glasgow), Scotland. Having played in several successful and longstanding bands in and around central Ohio for the past 16 years, he formed the McIans with a desire to promote Celtic music and to fill a void in the local music scene.
Joining him is Steve Stinchcomb McIan and Ken Kress McIan– who also plays with Brian in Six Pack Theory – and one of several fiddle players. The fiddle player is the distinguishing mark of Celtic music, that role is filled by Rob Whittington McIan!
The McIans have been featured prominently during St. Patrick’s Day celebrations (and halfway to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in September) for the past several years. They are regularly booked at your favorite Irish-themed pubs in and around central Ohio and beyond at all times of the year. Additionally, the McIans have been booked for private parties, weddings, and any other celebrations that require a lively fun band. We can even be family friendly! Because the individual musicians in the band are all involved in a wide variety of other bands, special requests for individual songs (such as 80s, pop, or alternative) can easily be accommodated for special events.
